Knypersley early Wednesday morning.

Working from home today, so I thought I would have an early morning wander, barrier still closed so parked on the dam.
Nice steady walk up the path from the car park bought me to the fallen tree, empty,  put some seed down and carried on walking.
Round at the bridge and it was still dead, me, me and more me, very little sound and no sight ( sounds a bit  like a busted television ) anyway, time to wander back to the car, thought I might as well go back the way I came and see if anything had descended onto the feed.
Great tits, Blue tits ,Nuthatch and then Mr Jay, hello what's that I hear , Tree creeper, can't see one, O yes I can !!!

About Time

Is it just me or are these beauties very late this time, I don't seem able to find them in the normal haunts.
Never mind cause I got this one.

In the shadow of a power station. 1-6-13

In years gone by I spent a lot of time fishing matches all over the place, one venue was Willington on the Trent, we went yesterday with the cameras instead.
The old gravel workings at Repton are now a nature reserve with lakes, grassland and scrub, the place is alive with the noise of wild life.
There are pits still being worked and lots of gravel piles around, on these we spotted Oystercatchers, ducks of a few types, swallows and swifts.
 The last viewing platform down the lane gives the best view over the lake but the interesting part is the field 1/2 way down on the right, Reed Bunting, Whitethroat and Grasshopper warbler can all be heard in the field edges and scrub, this is one place due for a return visit.

Friday, I had a day off, so was on a wander.

The title says it all, these pair were posturing for 15 min's, then ----------------

The whole thing lasted all of 2 seconds and was over, still don't know who won.

Westport Lake

The only thing that got taken today was the Black necked Grebe, Trace and I spent 2 hrs somewhere else from 7.30 this morning trying to get the Green Woodpecker again, saw both male and female but not in range of the lens. Will have to keep trying !!!!!

Monday down at Apedale

Decided that I would stay away from the normal haunts today and take a trip to see what was about at Apedale.
Quite quiet for the first 300 yd's up the path but as I was nearing the tower I heard a green Woodpecker call, now, having spent a lot of time after these things I thought that the call would be all I was going to get,
I was wrong, as you can see.

Not a bad 2 hour wander !!!!!!

Something to do with me not being a fan of crowds, led to a trip to Dave's photo emporium today.
Mixed weather  am led to a good pm, all the regulars were present and correct.

Nice evening for a wander.

Had a wander around a few places in the early evening, very nice to be able to go out without freezing to death.
Didn't see a massive amount so decided to go a bit arty !!
